Product Enhancements Since Alter NRG Purchased WPC

Since April 2007, Alter NRG has been augmenting the technical capabilities of WPC to allow the supply of a broader gasification system along with complementary engineering services that can be accessed by Energy Recovery from Waste project developers.

Below is a description of these services:

GT Pro/PEACE

  • Fluentâ software
  • Used to predict gas velocity profile, solids behavior and temperature distribution throughout the reactor

WPC Commercial Demonstration Facility

In 2007 Alter NRG upgraded the commercial demonstration facility at the WPC Plasma Center. Modifications included:

  • Automatic lock hopper type feed system
  • Sealing reactor to prevent oxygen ('O2') ingress
  • New spectrometer gas analyzer with capability to monitor over 200 compounds
  • New steam generator
  • Upgraded computer control system
  • New software to control torches and feed system

 

 

 

 

 

The project was completed in February 2008 and since then, Alter NRG has completed pilot tests to improve predictions for particulate carryover, fines recycle, O2 enriched operation, torch power control, and feed modifications.

As well, all the above plant upgrades and testing has led to an improved reactor design which is in the process of being patented.
